The Motek team’s newest venture in North Miami offers fresh-baked pastries, brunch classics, and Israeli dishes.
The team behind Miami favorite Motek have opened Sesame Bakery, a part bakery, part all-day brunch restaurant in North Miami’s Sole (stylized SoLé) Mia development that combines Eastern Mediterranean flavors with baked goods.
Charlie Levy, owner of Motek, teamed up with Etai Almog, formerly of Balthazar Bakery, to create this new spot with an all-day menu blending Mediterranean and European influences. Brunch offerings include avocado toast on sourdough and green shakshuka with a Jerusalem bagel and lemon tahini. Sandwiches put a twist on classics, like a Moroccan-style bagel with matbucha and a fish schnitzel bun with harissa aioli. Salads feature Mediterranean staples, including a Greek salad with Kalamata olives and a Caesar with romaine and Parmesan. Heartier options include a tuna croque madame with truffle béchamel, and vegetarians can enjoy wild mushroom toast with truffle aioli or a pretzel with cauliflower cream and tahini. Almog also oversees the pastry selection, with options like pistachio financiers, Jerusalem bagels, and orange olive oil cake.
“Sesame Bakery was conceived from a need to bake our own breads and dedicate a space entirely to this craft,” said Levy. “Originating from our restaurant, Motek, this vision quickly blossomed into the full-fledged bakery and kitchen you see today.”
Sesame Bakery, the latest addition to the 184-acre SoLé Mia development, spans 5,000 square feet and offers seating for 165 guests. The space features both indoor dining and an outdoor patio shaded by a wooden pergola draped in bougainvillea. Inside, wood accents and pink details are a tribute to Miami’s Art Deco style, while a blush-tiled bakery counter serves as the room’s centerpiece.
Sesame Bakery is located at 15055 Biscayne Blvd. in North Miami. It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
